Background

Graphic design, art and literature are my lifelong passions. Sharing my insights with communication students through graphic design software and principles allows me to pursue a subject that I naturally take pleasure in.

I have a BFA from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Prior to teaching at 体育菠菜大平台, I taught the graphic design program courses for Hastings College in Hastings, NE.

I have 25+ years of experience as a professional graphic designer. I began as a graphic artist for a large printer/publisher, then joined their marketing team for 7 years while traveling across the US promoting their print products. I became their Commercial Art director for an additional 6 years. Since 1995, I have run a freelance graphic design business concurrent with my professional and teaching pursuits.

Our daily environments are filled with messages and visuals; they are “speaking” to us. Communication studies allow insight into why we respond, or don’t respond to these messages. The ability to isolate and dissect this “speech”, analyze it, and then create new, impactful messages and visuals is a very powerful, and marketable, skill.

Personal Interests

My family and I enjoy art in all forms and we can be found drawing and painting in our home studios together and separately. We also bike to local parks, frequent art museums and the cinema. I am an avid knitter and reader and enjoy the fun and comaraderie of two book clubs.
